Louise Hunter

Louise is Director of Corporate Affairs at Northumbrian Water Group.  Louise’s team lead on NWG’s activities with PR & Media, public affairs, internal communications and partnership projects (e.g. sponsorships, community and environmental initiatives).  The team is very successful, leading the company to develop initiatives such as an employee volunteering programme which engages 54% of employees in volunteering and gaining external recognition for NWG such as the Queen’s Award for Sustainability, achieving a place on the World’s most ethical companies list and Utility Company of the Year in 2009 and again in 2013.

Louise began her career as a trainee chartered accountant with KPMG in Edinburgh, specialising in financial sector audit, before returning to the North East to become the regional director for Business in the Community, eventually joining Northumbrian Water in 2005 to lead their corporate responsibility activity.  Louise is passionate about the role that business plays in society and has a wealth of experience in stakeholder management and community engagement.  One of the things she is most proud of is her involvement with Castle View Enterprise Academy in Sunderland, where she project managed the development of the new academy on behalf of the lead sponsor, Northumbrian Water, and where she has served as a Director of the school’s trust board since 2006.
