Reading is at the core and the main passion of the English Department at CVEA, we vow and pledge to ensure our students are provided with as many opportunities to read and own good quality fiction.
On Thursday 7th March we celebrated our third World Book Day with the English Department leading the way to celebrate all things booky and great literature.
Exactly 1150 books were given out as gifts to our students - this takes the number of books given away as gifts from the English Department to over 3000 books in the past three years.
Some of our students had the privilege to visit the Waterstones store in Sunderland for a unique experience of storytelling, book themed treasure hunt, book buying; they were able to leave behind their own book recommendations for anyone to be inspired by.
Staff dressed up for the occasion representing the worlds of Lord of the Rings, Disney, Treasure Island, Mary Poppins and many more well-loved characters.
