James signs for Blackpool

The Academy is delighted to receive the news that James Harrison, one of our Year 11 students, has signed a contract with Blackpool FC! James had been in talks to sign over Christmas and February Half Term. Things were postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic, however, the club asked him to sign over Zoom. James has been described by staff as a "powerhouse" and "one to watch" in the future. We offer our sincerest congratulations to James and wish him all the best in his career.

Under 13 girls are champions!

After a tremendous league campaign Castle View are U13 Girls league champions and completed a perfect league campaign with a victory tonight against Southmoor (see more)!

Year 8 girls v Kepier

Our Year 8 girls had their first match of the new year, and they didn't disappoint, with an emphatic 9-0 victory over Houghton Kepier!

Year 9 football Nationals result

Our Year 9 boys faced a long journey down to Laurence Jackson School (Guisborough) for the 4th round of the English Schools National Cup, and booked their place in the last 64, with a comfortable 5-2 victory. Goals from Harley Telford (2), Khaya Dlamini (2) and Callum Hughes sealed the win against a huge and really impressive school. The boys put the pressure on right from kick off and that paid off! Well done to Mr Kelly and the boys!

Year 8 Girls Football

Year 8 football County Cup results

The year 8 football team had a county cup match tonight and beat Cardinal Hume 7-2. We started the day only having 8 of the 15 players in school due to sickness so others were asked to play and by the end of the day I had 16 players. There was a great sense of togetherness, even with those who hadn’t played in the squad before. Goals scored by: Evan Cubby (1) Bevan Davison (1) Callum Pemberton (c)(3) Jamie Coates (1) Leyton Donkin (1) Onto the next round. Well done lads!

Year's 7 and 8 girls football:6 a side tournament

Mr McKenna took two teams out to compete in a 6 a side tournament against girls from Sunderland, Washington, Durham and Peterlee. The competition was originally aimed at year 8's, however, as we had a great following of year 7 girls, we were the only school to enter a year 7 team! The tournament was comprised of four groups with the winners of each group qualifying to the semi finals and then a final to decide who would represent Sunderland AFC at Huddersfield.

Year 7 girls are joint champions!
