As part of our careers insight programme, Dr Mark Carpenter, an Intensive Care Consultant at Sunderland Royal Hospital spoke to students about careers in medicine. During the session, Mark outlined the requirements for medical school, the different roles within the hospital (other than being a doctor) and what students can do now to develop their CVs for college and university applications.
Students posed some fab questions at the end of the session with Chloe wanting to know about the gender pay gap in medicine and Tyler wanting to know which science subjects are required for medical school.
Mark will be back after half term with junior doctors and medical students to run a CPD training session with students.
